Katie Rose Audition for February Joffrey Scholarship
I have been a student of dance since the age of 6, and have attended several summer dance intensives, but never have I been as blessed as I was to participate in Joffrey’s summer intensive last year in New York. Until last summer, I never felt the incredible confidence that some of my dance sisters experienced in my hometown company. After studying with Joffrey instructors for two weeks, I was so much more aware of my abilities and could actually “feel” the movement become part of me. Because of what I learned at Joffrey, I was able to work with Andrea Rogers in her choreography of “Poker Face” to the Broadway version, and perform it on stage as my talent for Miss Berkeley County’s Outstanding Teen (By the way, talent counts for 35% of the total score). I went on to win the crown and banner and will be performing this talent in June when I compete for Miss West Virginia’s Outstanding Teen. I have been accepted to Joffrey’s summer intensive this year and also to the trainee program. I will be registering for a four week performance program by the deadline in March. I am hoping that you will find this performance worthy of a scholarship to allow me to continue to grow in the art of ballet as I share it with others.
