Prevail

I want my cast, instead of crumbling under struggles, pressures and the weight of life, to push against them and create something greater out of them. I experimented with how weight and pressure can be exchanged and balanced. My concept is for the movement to be motivated by another force instead of voluntarily happening. I was inspired by the idea that the dancers could use their weight to force their struggles onto each other. The force causes them to move. The burden will be accepted by the agonist and, if not persevered, at least buffered from it's original strength. It works because that's what people are constantly doing in life. I was also inspired by breath. After all is said and done, we're still breathing and, better yet, we're still breathing because we breathed through it all. I noticed how much more comfortable and easier it was to exchange weight and connect from dancer to dancer as they consciously used their breath. I suppose, in the end, I was inspired by life and nature and the contentment that we can become more powerful than opposing forces. We can prevail.
