“Wash” was commissioned and produced by Episcopal School of Jacksonville for the 2018 Spring Concert. I began the process with movement. We had three rehearsals where the students performed in silence. The goal was to create a synergistic energy within the group. On the fourth day, I changed the music every time they ran the piece. This experiment created an exciting aspect for the students manipulating movement qualities with each song. We had an educational discussion of how music can affect movement. On the last day of rehearsal the students used the correct music. Using the computer software Isadora shadowing the live performance, I wanted to create a scene of spooky chaos. “Wash” was created by the idea of a busy world that constantly changes leaving little moments of true human connection.
