RESTORATION is about the dark tunnel that we sometimes get stuck in that seemingly has no light at the end. We all battle with various internal demons, and often turn to vices when we feel like there is no one or nothing else to help get us through. Even though we can be surrounded by others, we can still feel completely alone. The recurring theme of reaching one hand up signify's that last effort we have to reach out for help. The entire piece changes when the first actual contact is made between the dancers, as we realize we aren't alone. Although the internal struggle continues, with the support of each other, one by one, the dancers start to climb out to the other side towards the light. This piece is dedicated to my sister, who overcame incredible odds after surviving a cardiac arrest. I am forever grateful for all who had a hand in saving her life and will try to promote understanding on how to help others struggling with anxiety and all that manifests from it.
