THE BUCHAREST INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL (B-EST FILM FEST) * SELECETED IN COMPETITION * (1 of 8) AMERICAN EMBASSY SPECIAL SCREENING IN Brasilia, BRAZIL “On Point” follows five dancers from different parts of the world and thirteen internationally renowned judges during the ups and downs at the prestigious Brasilia International Dance Seminar and Competition held in the summer of 2003. The dancers come from different personal backgrounds and circumstances - from Brasilia and the beaches of Rio de Janeiro and as far away as Australia - but each is in desperate search of an invitation or a contract from a high caliber international dance school or dance company, whether in Europe, the United States, Russia, or Australia. The story of “On Point” unfolds in an elegant but unobtrusive way that nevertheless views the world of dance from widely varied perspectives. From the head matriarch to the anorexic dancer, the gifted and the unfocused are all represented as famous instructors make important decisions on choosing a winner. Issues of health, racism, sexism figure in as well in this exclusive look at the inner world of dance. Strong characters, elegant style, important social issues and great dancing are what “On Point” is about.
