Cold Winds Are Rising

Serene, stark and unforgiving are the cold winds that bring on the winter season. The same descriptors could be used for dancing en pointe. However, there is beauty and grace in this landscape created. It's this juxtaposition of cool purity and striking dominance that is conveyed in "Cold Winds Are Rising". As the piece builds in the second movement, we find we are far from the barren stillness that first set the stage.
