Gravity May 15, 2014 | jamproject | More on Tap
Gravity is about the struggle between staying grounded and the dream of wanting more out…our lives, regardless of the situation. The dancers in the video represent reality and the fact that gravity is constantly working against us, despite our better efforts. Airplanes are used to symbolize the escape from that reality. As the song suggests, "keep me where the light is," someone refuses to let gravity affect them and decides to maintain hope and continue dreaming.Read More

The movement is a blend of contemporary and classical modern dance forms. Apologies for poor video quality; this is the only performance footage we have of this piece. Choreographed by Lauren Gaul and Associate Choreographer Jon Warren, featuring the Pace University Commercial Dance…This premiered in the Pace University spring concert, Dance Out Loud 2014, and was inspired by classic jazz dance. I wanted to fuse classic and concert jazz in an unexpected and contemporary way that created a concert jazz piece with a modern day theatrical flair. The featured dancer in the piece is moved by the unique latin rhythms of the music. Her movement and connection to the rhythm is the motivation for all dancers in the piece to interact, dance, and meet in this one moment in time. She is the focus of their desire to move and becomes the inspiration.Read More
